hjHDJDHJS ok I laughed at the perfectly cut ending

the ball throwing animation though? the poses are so strong :0 I love them.
imo the limited animation (even with just 1 or 2 more inbetweens added) works! especially for short simple things like these. then again I personally like the style :D

I wondered about Blender for 2D animation before. how well does it work in your opinion? :0

Woarel responds:

thanks >w<

It's so good. Blender grease pencil is really easy to use for everything qwq sketch, Line art, shading, composition and backgrounds. I found with render engines:
- Cycles is best for realistic 3D backgrounds but has long render time and
- Eevee works best for uv mapped objects or planes with drawn backgrounds but has fast render time.

I recommend Dedouze's tutorial for absolute beginners https://youtu.be/c57qq2nE3B0

Man, stuff like this was my childhood. (...I guess I was a bit disturbed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
It's great to revisit this after so many years! This was as fun and quirky as I remembered it, maybe even more.
I also remember growing fond of Limp Bizkit because of this haha.

I remember first playing this series years ago. while a bit clumsy in some places, it always had a great charm imo.
certain moments still stick to my mind now! especially the super stressful ones haha.
makes me feel a bit nostalgic.

now that I found the source+creators, it feels a bit more special. ^ ^

charming! it was fun seeing what appeared each time.
I just wish I didn't have to reload to reset every time. if there is a restart button of sorts, it wasn't clear to me.

since it was an assignment, I don't want to be harsh about something that probably isn't even the focus of it — but seeing as you made sure to animate the floating objects, it feels odd to see no movement on the candles or other glowing floats (even just another frame would've done it imo); the different textures+opacities of the candle glow vs. the summoner's magic glow clash a bit as well.
the overall result feels a little clumsy, but it's not terrible.

otoh, the summoner (and summonees!) are cute :D

good luck — I hope you'll do well!

the sweet, smooth, digital sounds... there's a lightweight and friendly, almost innocent air to this track.
such a vibe ♪

I decided I'll be keeping this looping in the background for a bit.
great work!

the haunting boss of a psychedelic psychological horror game....... this is it. this is the OST

i loved the pacing between emptiness and fullness / bluntness and atmosphericness of the different sections. those distorted bells now live rent-free in my head.

I can see myself listening to this a lot.
amazing!

thank you! i now feel very proud of myself ngl

SLUDGE LIFE MENTIONED RAHHHH !!!!
i love both games so much, and this is such a cool tribute. from the perspective, super fitting with the games' TV warp effect, to all the little references (like even Buns from the SL2 demo??).
also i love Ovni up there, like ":D".

amazing job ♥

i absolutely love the brush strokes, and how they're at their most textured around the face and what i assume are the glowing souls ♥
they look a bit like dandelions, which is a lovely touch.
the surroundings feel dark and ominous in contrast. and the fairy itself seems to be crying,,. it must've been a sweet and melancholic sort of story. i love the vibe a lot!
also i'm so weak for those eyes. so prettyy 😭

NERINERI-NEEE responds:

Thank you so much for your kind words! (^з^)-☆
They made me really happy to read!
I am glad that Luxi is well liked by people!
Also for little clarification, she is not crying, those yellow streaks are common birthmarks of her species! (*^ω^)
And the sparkles are memories of the souls, their final guide and key to the great beyond.

I am still working on her story, perhaps soon in the future I will show the sanctuary of the souls and other characters. o(^o^)o

i'm getting like, a mix of... futuristic ad, album cover, visuals that would show during exposition of some nanotech-signal-nucleus-type technology in a 3D animated tv show, ice/crystal sculpture, close-up of waterbending in action... very neat.

it is somewhat messy and saturated with details that maybe could've been placed with more care for the overall composition (eg. making everything lead the eye towards the Item™ a la Fibonacci spiral). but i've gotten carried away with adding details like that before, so i'm guilty here too haha.

all in all, cool vibes! would be cool to see more :D

SomarioTheHuman responds:

A very good way to describe this style!
It's called metalheart, a graphic design style that emerged in the late 90's and early 2000's, you can read more about it here:
https://cari.institute/aesthetics/metalheart

It's true that the composition is a little messy, it was my first time doing a metalheart piece so i was very much experimenting and not really keeping track of what i wanted to make. But it was a fun process.

There's also alot of really talented artists that have alot more experience with the metalheart style, like the members of Kaybug Kollective: https://kaybugkollective.newgrounds.com/

Thanks alot for the compliment, im still experimenting but i'd really like to make more metalheart pieces!
